Stepfamily Training for Practitioners
Stepfamily training is offered nationally to practitioners in the Family Relationships and broader community sector to increase responsiveness to and understanding of the needs of Australian stepfamilies.
One day Repartnering With Children workshops (subsidised by Australian Government Feb-June), and Making Stepfamilies Work group work workshops have been conducted in all states and territories during 2008. Workshops were offered in conjunction with community partners.
It's great to see growing awareness of the need to develop specific knowledge and skills for effective work with stepfamilies.
Further Workshops - SAVI is now planning Training Workshops from July 2008 to June 2009, and invites expressions of interest in hosting training for your organisation, locality or region. To register your interest please call SAVI's Training Manager Daniela Zimmermann on: (03) 9481 1500.
Participants can expect to:
- Gain insights into the stepfamily as a unique family form, and the implications of this for practice;
- Gain creative ideas for working with stepfamilies; and
- Link empowering theoretical approaches with practice.
