Welcome to the website of Stepfamily Association of Victoria and Stepfamilies Australia, currently under development. Stepfamilies Australia is a network of state stepfamily associations, working towards forming a new national stepfamily association in November 2008.

Stepfamilies Australia will provide

·       a national ‘voice’ to raise the profile of stepfamilies
·       information and support services including a telephone helpline
·       research around stepfamily issues
·       links to state stepfamily associations and services

Counselling

Stepfamily Counselling Program - Melbourne

 
SAVI is now offering a fee for service Counselling Program to meet the needs of stepfamilies.  A formal referral is not required so you and your family can simply call the Stepfamily Helpline on 03 9481 1500 to make an appointment. Day and evening appointments are available. You can also contact our Counselling Coordinator Simone Young for more information.

National Training 2008-2009

One day Repartnering With Children workshops (subsidised by Australian Government Feb-June), and Making Stepfamilies Work group work workshops have been conducted in all states and territories during 2008.  Workshops were offered in conjunction with community partners.

It's great to see growing awareness of the need to develop specific knowlege and skills for effective work with stepfamilies.
