Group for Grandparents in Northcote

The Australian Greek Welfare Society will be running a new 6-week grandparenting structured group free of charge for grandparents who do not have access to their grand children following the separation and/or divorce of their adult children. The group starts on Wednesday 19^th May 2010 – Wednesday 23^rd June 2010. Held at Democritus Hall, 583 High Street, Northcote from 10am – 1pm (6 consecutive Wednesdays). We are currently in the process of recruiting eligible participants so if you know of any clients who are grandparents and they have access issues to seeing/visiting their grand children please forward us the details or ask them to contact us. It will also be much appreciated if you are able to let your networks know that AGWS is running this group in case they have Greek speaking grandparents who may benefit from attending the course.

My name is Millie Chandler and I am a features writer here at DOLLY magazine. I am currently writing a feature which explores the notion of a “normal” family and how there is no such thing. It is a really positive piece that will emphasise that wherever there is love, there is a family. We will be speaking to four or five girls who grew up in different families.

We’d love to interview a teenage girl who has step brother(s) and/or sister(s) and was hoping you might know someone, or point us in the direction of someone who does? Ideally we’d love them to be from Sydney so we could get them into our studios for a photo shoot. So if you have any Sydney contacts we would love to speak to them.
